Client Portal Overview

Clients have a similar looking portal to the doula's profile, but with less information shared. This article explains the difference between what clients can see in their Doulado portal and what remains private to their doula. Understanding these boundaries helps set clear expectations around communication, documentation, and privacy, ensuring both providers and clients know how information is shared and protected within the platform.

Clients do not see anything labeled as a "Note" within Doulado, whether the note is added in the note section or attached to a visit.

What Clients Can See in Their Portal

Clients have access to a simplified version of the Doulado portal, focused on communication, paperwork, and billing.

Clients can:

  • View and edit their personal profile information (name, address, email, phone #, etc)
  • See outstanding documents, balances, and files on their dashboard
  • Access shared files and completed documents
  • Complete requested paperwork
  • View and pay invoices (if Stripe is connected)
  • Review payment history and manage payment methods
  • Send and receive messages
  • View and book appointments (if enabled)

Important: Clients never see anything labeled as a “Note,” including client journey notes or visit notes.

Client Portal Creation

When you are ready to invite your client to the portal, this is the default notification your clients will receive when you invite them. This can be customized under Templates>Notifications.

How It Works

  1. The doula sends a portal invitation
  2. The client receives an email notification
  3. The client clicks “Get Started”
  4. They create their portal account
  5. Their account is linked to the inviting doula

Clients cannot sign up independently. Below is what it looks like when they create their client portal:

Clients cannot create an account with Doulado until they have been invited by their doula to the portal. After they create their account, they can login at the same address as doulas, app.doulado.co
