Sending a message to a client

Within the Doulado platform, you can securely send and receive messages with your clients. To save time, you can also create message templates for common responses. If you’re subscribed to the Team plan, all messages are HIPAA-compliant, ensuring privacy and security.

Additionally, you can share links in messages for YouTube videos, and other resources. Need to loop in a client’s partner, another contact or a backup Doula? You have the option to add an additional recipient at the client’s request, making communication seamless and inclusive.

How to send a message:

  1. You can start a new client message in two different locations. Either from the main client list with the message icon on their client line.

Or from within their profile on the overview page, you can click on send message

  1. If you have existing conversations with this client started, the recent conversations will appear. You can select to continue a specific thread, or start a new conversation here.

If this is the first conversation you are starting with a client, a new message window will open

  1. If you'd like to add additional person to this conversation, click the + Add Recipient button and enter the email of the person you want to add to the message, or select from the dropdown to show team members or other assigned providers

  1. Type a new message, or you can select a template to work with (for more information on message templates click here)

  1. When you are ready, you can click send to send the message to your client (and anyone else included)


Whenever you send your client a message in Doulado, they will receive an email notification to let them know they have a new message to view. Within the email, they can click the "view messages" button to directly view and respond to the message, or if they have portal access, they can view and respond to their message by also logging in.

Clients do not need portal access in order to view a message sent through Doulado.

Message Center

You can view all of the messages that you have sent or received in the message center right next to your main menu at the top right of the Doulado screen

You can click on the envelope to view the message center, and new unread messages will appear in bold. You can view all existing conversations with clients and team members within your message center. In order to start a new conversation or thread with a client, you will have to start that from client their profile.
