New Journey for an Existing Client
A Journey represents a specific episode of care and contains the information, documentation, files, and services related to that client's experience during a particular life event.
For example, if you support a client during a pregnancy and birth in 2024, and they return in 2026 for a subsequent pregnancy, you can create a New Journey. This allows you to retain the client's basic profile information while starting a fresh set of records, notes, forms, and services for their new experience.
Creating a new journey for an existing client is a great way to maintain a complete history of your relationship while keeping documentation organized and separated by episode of care.
It is the recommended approach for many use cases, such as:
- Mothers with more than one child
- Mothers returning for postpartum care
- Full-spectrum doulas supporting multiple life events of a client
Starting the Journey
- Open the original client journey, and click the ➕ (New Journey) button near the Quick Stats area (top right).

- Add any labels that the new journey should have, any notes, and populate any other fields available where applicable. Click Save.

- This will then take you to the newly created Journey.

Archived Clients
If a client's previous journey has been archived, you can easily create a new journey from the archived record.
- Click View Archive at the bottom of your main Client List.
- Locate and open the archived client journey.
- Click the New Journey button in the Quick Stats section.
- Select any labels you'd like to apply, enter any updated information, and click Save.
- A new active journey will be created for that client and will automatically appear in your main Client List.
This allows you to start a fresh episode of care while preserving the client's previous journey and documentation for future reference.

You do not need to unarchive the client journey in order to add a new journey for that client.
